Apparently the naked sunbathing was started by university students since most of the naked folks are on the side of the river closest to the university. The river is only about 15 feet wide so you can sit on the clothing side in your shorts and watch hundreds of naked people on the other side, or you can get naked on the other side and be watched by hundreds of clothed people. Both sides have a path along the river, but even though the clothed side path is paved, the naked side path gets the most traffic.
